Dear Parents and Carers,
Many thanks for your support with our closure this afternoon, it is never easy to make the decision to
close the school. The decision was made following a child and two adults having suspected spider bites.
Although Public Health England advise that schools can remain open with this issue, as one of the cases
had a severe reaction we did not want to put anyone else at risk. Pest control were advised, have
attended the site and have found evidence of a potential infestation. Medical advice and treatment has
been given to those affected.
In order to ensure that the site is a safe as we can make it, pest control will be attending the school
tomorrow to fumigate where needed. School will be CLOSED tomorrow (Friday 19th October 2018) in
order for this work to take place. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
We are aware that some children have left their PE bags in school. We will ensure that they are kept
safe over the holiday and we will send them home on the first Monday back.
Parents’ Evening will be rearranged for Thursday 1st November 2018. Appointment times from today’s
booking will be kept. If you are unable to make this new date, please let the school office know when we
return after half term.
We wish you all a good holiday and look forward to seeing the children back on Monday 29th October.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Yours faithfully

Mrs J Berriman
