Evidencing the impact of the Primary PE and Sports Premium 2024-25
The Government has provided additional Sports Premium Funding. Fairlop Primary School will receive a total of £21,340.00 over the course of the academic year 2024-25.
Aims
The PE and sport premium must be in accordance with the terms outlined in the conditions of grant document. This means schools must use the PE and sport premium to:
- build capacity and capability in the school and make sure that improvements made to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity provision now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future
- develop or add to the PE, sport and physical activity that the school provides
It is important to make the most effective use of the premium. To best achieve this, our spending will focus on making improvements in 5 key areas, to assist in:
- increasing confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sporting activities;
- increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sporting activities;
- raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, to support whole school improvement;
- offer a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities to all pupils; and
- increasing participation in competitive sport.
At Fairlop Primary School, we already provide a well-balanced, fun, enjoyable and inspiring PE curriculum which encourages children to become physically active, boosts their confidence and provides them with life-skills. Children receive a minimum of 2 hours per week quality PE using a variety of equipment and resources. They experience a broad range of sporting opportunities in which they can develop skills and excel in activities which are challenging and inclusive of all abilities. We value sporting excellence and cater for talented individuals as well as encouraging all children to be active and make healthy choices.
We offer a variety of competitive opportunities throughout the year, both within the school and against other schools. These competitions encourage children to develop values such as fairness, respect, teamwork, co- operation and self-esteem. There are also opportunities for children to lead, manage and officiate in school games activities.
There is a well-established programme of extra-curricular activities provided before school, after school and at lunch and break times. We aim to increase levels of participation with the Sports Premium Funding and subsidise pupil premium children to take part if they express an interest.
We promote healthy active lifestyles and this has a positive effect on academic subjects too.
We intend to ensure that the extra sports premium funding will have a long-lasting impact in areas of teaching and learning, competitive sports, health and safety and for the effects of this provision to be evident throughout the school, resulting in increased confidence and high standards reflected in all curriculum areas.
The ‘Evidencing the Impact of the Primary P.E. and Sport Premium 2024-25’ document linked above outlines how the money is spent at Fairlop Primary School. This is the information that has been submitted to the DfE via the PE and sport premium digital expenditure reporting return. We monitor the effectiveness of this regularly and devise ways of measuring the impact to ensure maximum usage.
